Why I'm Going All In On A Personal Brand (And You Should Too!)
How Owning Your Story Can Lead To Unexpected Opportunities
A year ago, if you had told me I’d be writing a newsletter every week, putting my thoughts out into the world, and actively building a personal brand, I would’ve probably shrugged it off. It’s not that I didn’t see the value in it - I just didn’t think it was for me. I was a musician, a business owner, a sales professional. But a "personal brand?" That felt like something for influencers or people with an agenda.
But I’ve come to realize that a personal brand isn’t about self-promotion - it’s about self-expression. It’s about clarity. And, most importantly, it’s about connection. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a creative, or a professional in a corporate role, your personal brand is how you stand out in an increasingly noisy world. It’s how you make sure the right opportunities come your way. And it’s how you leave a lasting impact.
The Turning Point
For years, I poured my energy into building businesses and projects. I built Key Tov Orchestra from the ground up, creating viral music videos and performing at unforgettable events. I transitioned into commercial real estate, then into high tech sales, learning and reinventing myself along the way. But through all these shifts, one thing remained constant: the power of storytelling.
I started to realize that my experiences, lessons, and insights could help others. And the only way to do that was to share. Not just in one-on-one conversations, but in a way that reached a wider audience. That’s when I decided to take my personal brand seriously. To stop hesitating. To go all in.
The Value of a Personal Brand
Here’s why I believe everyone should invest in building their personal brand, no matter what industry you’re in:
Opportunities Find You – When you consistently share your insights, work, and ideas, the right people take notice. Instead of chasing opportunities, they start coming to you.
You Control Your Narrative – People will form opinions about you whether you like it or not. By actively shaping your personal brand, you take control of your story and how you’re perceived.
It Builds Trust and Credibility – Whether you’re in business, sales, or the creative world, trust is everything. A strong personal brand establishes you as someone people want to work with, buy from, or learn from.
It’s a Long-Term Investment – Businesses can change, jobs can shift, but your reputation and personal brand stay with you. It’s the asset you take with you everywhere.
How I’m Approaching It (And How You Can Too)
I’m not here to "go viral." I’m not chasing followers for the sake of it. My goal is simple: to document my journey, share what I’ve learned, and help others unlock their potential. That means showing up consistently, sharing insights from my work in music, media, and sales, and being as real as possible.
If you’re thinking about building your personal brand but don’t know where to start, here’s my advice:
Pick One Platform and Start Sharing – Whether it’s LinkedIn, YouTube, or a newsletter like this one, choose one place to start and commit to posting regularly.
Lean Into What Makes You Unique – Your experiences, skills, and perspectives set you apart. Don’t try to be someone else - lean into what makes you different.
Be Consistent – Building a brand takes time. Show up consistently, even when it feels like no one is watching.
Engage and Connect – It’s not just about broadcasting - it’s about building relationships. Respond to comments, start conversations, and be genuinely interested in others.
Final Thoughts
Going all in on my personal brand isn’t about ego. It’s about impact. It’s about making sure the lessons I’ve learned don’t stay locked inside me. Because, as I’ve said before, I refuse to die with my music still in me.
And neither should you.
If you’re on the fence about putting yourself out there, take this as your sign. The world needs your voice, your perspective, and your story. Start today. One post, one video, one conversation at a time.
Are you building your personal brand? Let me know - I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Until next time,
Elliot
