Believe in Yourself
The Mindset That Makes Success Inevitable
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t - you’re right.”
Henry Ford said it first. And I’ve lived it enough times to know it’s true.
How I Bet on Myself (and Won)
Looking back on every major pursuit in my life, I’ve noticed there’s a pattern.
When I was in high school, I started my band with no formal plan and no roadmap. I had no experience running a music business, no guarantees that clients would hire us, and no proof that people would even like our sound. But I decided it would work. I acted as if it already was working. And because I carried myself that way, others began to believe it too.
That same thing happened when I got into real estate. I wasn’t entering with an MBA or decades of experience. I simply knew I could do it - so I figured out finding potential properties, the contracts, the financing, the renovations, the marketing… all of it. And when the first few deals closed, that belief became even stronger.
Later, I applied the same mindset to producing music videos on YouTube. I didn’t start with perfect equipment, a large subscriber base, or an airtight strategy. But I believed that I could build something unique - and I learned the skills I needed along the way.
Every single time, the order was the same:
Decide it will work.
Take action without all the answers.
Learn and adjust as you go.
If I had waited for certainty, I’d still be waiting.
The Invisible Edge Successful People Have
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
You need to believe in yourself before anybody else will.
You need to take your craft and your mission seriously before anybody else will.
You need to know where you’re going before anybody else will come along for the ride.
In business, this is the difference between the people who eventually succeed and the people who fade out quietly.
Belief creates action.
Action creates results.
Results create more belief.
And the cycle builds on itself.
But it all starts with mindset.
If you go in thinking “I’ll give this a try and see if it works”, you’ve already lost. Because the first obstacle will convince you to quit.
If you go in thinking “I’m going to make this happen no matter what - even if I have to change my approach or timeline”, you’ll push through walls you didn’t even know you could break.
That’s not wishful thinking. It’s a decision.
The Leap I’m Taking Now
Today, I’m in a new season of this mindset.
I’ve decided that my next chapter is about sharing the lessons I’ve learned - through my newsletter, YouTube videos, social media, and any other channel that can help me reach the people who need to hear them.
I’ve had to learn a lot of new skills quickly:
Writing in a way that connects.
Filming and editing videos.
Building an online audience.
Navigating new tech tools and platforms.
At times, it feels like starting from zero again. But I know the pattern. And I know that if I hold the belief - I will make this work - then it’s only a matter of time before the results show up.
Your Turn: Action Steps to Apply This
Decide in advance.
Before you begin, choose your outcome. Not “I’ll try,” but “I will.” This mental shift changes the way you approach every decision and obstacle.Act as if it’s already working.
Show up consistently. Talk about your work with conviction. Carry yourself like someone who’s already in motion - because momentum attracts people and opportunities.Stay flexible, but don’t quit.
You may need to change your strategy, your tools, or your pace - but never the end goal. If the “how” changes, so be it. Keep your eyes on the “why.”Surround yourself with belief.
Spend time with people who push you forward, not those who plant doubt. Borrow belief from them on the days when yours feels shaky.Track progress, not perfection.
Small wins compound. Keep a record of what’s working so you can see proof that you’re moving forward - even when it feels slow.
Final Note
The leap of faith is never comfortable. It asks you to move without a safety net, to start before you have all the answers, and to keep going when results are slow. But here’s the thing: the leap gets shorter every time you take it. Because once you’ve proven to yourself that belief + action = results, you start trusting that process.
So if you’re standing at the edge of a decision, wondering if you can pull it off…
Decide first. Believe first. The rest will follow.
Because whether you think you can, or you think you can’t - you’re probably right.
On that note, keep showing up, keep creating.
Until next time,
Elliot
